Textile Wages Rise
Wage increases already granted to 50,000 woolen mill operatives in New England were followed by advances of 12 1/2% to some 25,000 cotton mill workers. These advances marked the first action by the cotton manufacturing interests to meet the higher wage levels set by the woolen mills throughout all the northern textile centers. When the general advance in wages in New England is completed it will affect about 250,000 workers.
The textile centers which have already granted the wage advances include Fall River, Lawrence, Lowell, New Bedford, Passaic, Manchester, Providence, Pawtucket.
