The Lancet (founded in 1823), Great Britain's oldest scientific weekly, will celebrate its 100th birthday by an anniversary number. It is at this day one of the leading medi-cal journals of the world. Since its founding anaesthetics, antiseptics, and bacteriology, as well as many other fundamental contributions to medicine, have been made. It has something to celebrate.
