Parachute Race
A parachute jump is ever a test of courage. But in the first " para- chute race " .ever held, four contestants at Mitchel Field not only had to jump from speedy planes at an altitude of 4,500 feet, but were obliged to see which could land first by withholding the opening of the chute as long as he dared. Surely a thrilling sport. The four landed within a few hundred feet of each other, less than a minute and a half apart.
