Sarcastic

The Paris press waxed sacastic over Premier MacDonald's kind invitation to Premier Herriot to attend the great naval review off Spithead (TIME, Aug. 4). It emphasized the fact that Britain referred to her Navy as a "guarantee of peace" and to the French Army as a "menace of war."

Le Journal des Debats, Paris quotidian, in a scathing editorial, suggested that Premier Herriot should now invite Premier MacDonald to France to see a review of the greatest army in the world in order to return the compliment of having been permitted to see a review of the world's greatest fleet.
