Transplant Spleen?

Theodor K o p p a n y i, experimental physiologist in the University of Chicago, has just made public the results of attempts to transplant the mysterious organ known as the spleen from one animal to another. The name of Koppanyi is familiar because of his attempts at transplanting a human eye (TIME, June 18, 1923, Oct. 20), which have apparently been successful thus far to a very limited extent, only in the case of rats. His new experiments indicate that the spleen can be transplanted in the case of certain lower forms of animal life, and perhaps in rats. Since the exact function of this organ in the human being is not yet definitely known, the experiments of Dr. Koppanyi may yield information on this point.
