Mexican Ambassador

Manuel C. Tellez, for four years Charge d'Affaires at Washington, was appointed by President Calles Mexican Ambassador to the U. S. It was rumored that President Calles had been recommended to make this appointment by the late Samuel Gompers, in recognition of Senor Tellez work in Washington leading to the recognition of Mexico by the U. S. (TIME, Aug. 27, 1923).
