There they were -- crowns of gold and precious stones, sceptres of fabulous value, orbs of dazzling beauty, whatnots of immense worth. In all, the collection was said to be worth $50,000,000.

The Bolsheviki said that they intend to preserve the collection as evidence of the lavish extravagance of the Imperial regimes.
