Last Court

The last two courts of the season were held at Buckingham Palace. The weather, which throughout Ascot was scorching hot, became raw cold overnight ; but in no sense were the brilliant functions at the Palace impeded.

The usual routine was followed. Gold Stick-in-Waiting performed his miracle of walking backwards into the Throne Room without slipping, tripping or falling. The band played God Save the King and His Majesty gave his customary three nods of gratitude. Americans presented:
