P:With fiery eloquence Foreign Minister Gustav Stresemann demanded the return of the former German colonies:
"In regard to the right of Germany to have colonies, I can state that, when for the first time the question of entering the League of Nations was debated, Germany took the stand that as long as the League distributed colonies on the principle that the highly civilized nations had the right to control the less progressive peoples, Germany demanded the right to be counted among the civilized nations.
