Treaty Defied
The German Army budget for 1927 calls for more officers and men than are permitted Germany under the Treaty of Versailles.
Yet the budget was approved last week by the Allied Conference of Ambassadors, whose especial duty it is to enforce the Versailles Treaty. "For technical reasons," ran the Council's indorsement, "the Army of the German Republic may be augmented in 1927 by 134 enlisted men and one officer."
