"Rise of Women"
Bare-faced Turkish women up in a balloon, throwing out ballast. The ballast labeled: MODESTY, VIRTUE, HONOR. . . .
Because the independent journal Aksham of Constantinople published the cartoon just described, its Editor Nedj Eddine Sadik was arrested, last week, sentenced to a month in jail "for satirizing the rise of women under the new Turkish laws (TIME, Nov. 23 et seq.) in a manner offensive to Turkish womanhood."
