Hamlet into Silly

"I will go so far as to say that the Hamlet myth is not even a particularly Danish myth." So hazarded, last week, at Copenhagen, Dr. Setala, Finnish Minister to Denmark, onetime professor of philology at the University of Helsingfors, Finnish capital.

"Hamlet," continued Dr. Setala, "may have been a Danish, Icelandic, Swedish or Finnish prince. It is impossible to decide. In Icelandic folklore we find the Hamlet myth related of Prince Amlodi, a word-name meaning 'off his head' or 'silly.' "
