Hands at Lakehurst waved goodby at her and for almost a day she was seen no more from land. Then she was a little south of Cuba, then off Jamaica. The trade winds fanned her ahead at a 90 m. p. h. scoot, and at last she, the airship Los Angeles, was at her goal, France Field, Panama Canal Zone. Lieutenant Commander Charles E. Rosendahl had put his airboat across 2,265 miles in 40 hours, her longest non-stop flight since she left Germany (TIME, Jan. 9).
