Hoover Elected

Last week the next President of the U. S. was chosen by electors voting in each state capital. The electors constituted the Electoral College, as designated by the people on Nov. 6. In 40 states they voted for Herbert Clark Hoover, in eight states for Alfred Emanuel Smith. Thus was Mr. Hoover constitutionally elected, Mr. Smith constitutionally defeated. The election does not become official, however, until the ballots are tabulated at a joint session of Congress on Feb. 13.
