New Orleans Peace

A parting salute of two bursting bombs on the doorsteps of nonstriking street- car men, and New Orleans' street car strike which had lasted since July 2, came to end. The peace was made far from the scene of activities. Father John O'Grady of Washington, D. C., who was in New Orleans when the strike began and tried unsuccessfully to mediate, succeeded at last after consultations in Manhattan with William Green, president of the American Federation of Labor, and with officials of the Public Service Co., and local union leaders.
