Last year the Courrier des Etats-Unis, oldest foreign language paper in the U. S. (1828), got into a financial bog, had to abandon its daily edition (TIME, Jan. 16). Last week the daily reappeared. The Courrier had been acquired by William Muriay Hewitt, promoter of foreign language newspaper advertising, from the family of the late Henri Sampers, which had published it since 1877.
