Like a quartered earthworm, the Municipal University of Wichita's summer school was crawling over southeast Canada last week. Outside Montreal were parked buses, tents, girls singing, and lingerie on the line. Spaced a day apart in Quebec and Ontario were three other sections of the Omnibus College, making its eleventh annual tour under the direction of Professor William Marion Goldsmith.

Each section carries some 175 students, mostly young women, who get three hours college credit for studying geography, history, biology or journalism. The college is usually on the road by 6 a. m.. travels about 200 mi. per day. sandwiches lectures in whenever convenient. Each trip lasts seven weeks, costs $174 per person.

Reduced attendance marked the opening last week of other college summer sessions, ranging from 4% at the University of Colorado to 4% at New York University, with an estimated average of 17% for the nation.
