Day of Opportunity
"Day of Opportunity"
Dr. John McDowell, one-armed moderator of the Presbyterian Church, has been making a moderatorial tour of the Northwest. Fortnight ago when he reached Aberdeen, S. Dak. he beheld with pleasure the following notice in the Aberdeen Evening News:
"Mayor's Proclamation
"Inasmuch as the moral and spiritual forces of America have been facing a real crisis, and
"Whereas 'they have now moved from the era of fear and discouragement into the presence of opportunity,' and
"Whereas the city of Aberdeen will have one of the most outstanding representatives of such people as compose our citizenship present in the person of Dr. John McDowell, on Sunday morning, October 8,
"I. I. N. Douglas, Mayor of the city of Aberdeen, do therefore proclaim Sunday, October 8. A Day of Opportunity for Aberdeen, and suggest that all our church people be present at their respective places of worship. . . ."
