Report Card
The University of Denver's National Opinion Research Center asked adults of various ages from various income groups, occupations and parts of the U.S. what they knew about the Bill of Rights. Last week the startling results of the inquiry were announced:
P:31% had never heard of it, or were not sure whether they had or not. Asked one: "What's that--some newfangled idea again?"
P: 36% had heard of it, but had no idea what it was.
P: 12% gave confused, unsatisfactory or entirely incorrect identifications. Examples: "Woman suffrage." "Prohibition." "It's the best thing that ever happened, but I don't know what it says." P: 21% had a "reasonably accurate idea" of what the Bill of Rights is.
