Since Yesterday

Two college classes compared notes on the years since graduation, and saw no need to sing the blues:

Princeton's Class of '37 learned that it had 336 daughters, 327 sons (1.4 per marriage), and more than $22 million in securities. One out of four of its 605 members is bald; one out of two plumper by 14 pounds. The average Princetonian, '37, lives in a big city, makes about $8,000 a year, has switched his favorites from milk to Scotch, Hamlet to Oklahoma!, Myrna Loy to Ingrid Bergman, Gone With the Wind to War and Peace, LIFE to TIME. He has become more conservative, hopes that Dewey will be the next President.

Not so Vassar's Class of 1935. As they recall, they were overwhelmingly conservative the year they graduated; now only 55% would vote Republican. The average alumna is married and has 1.5 children, is apt to be a volunteer worker for the Planned Parenthood Federation, and smokes and drinks more than she once did. Has she "finally matured?" No, said 85%. Cracked one: "Give me five minutes more."
