The Jaskpurt of Naustrent

The man-in-the-street had his say about the presidential campaign last week and left the situation at least as muddied as before. On Candid Camera, Allen Funt's TVersion of his Candid Microphone, Doubletalk Artist Dick Christman swapped opinions with representative members of the electorate. Samples:

P: Christman: "Well, let me put it this way.Which of the group, when he was the one who came out with the mainpress or quazer for the veterans who were back-stern for the other group?" First Man: "Well, which was that? Which one had that much pull that he was able to do that? Eisenhower?" Christman: "He said that if the people will back me for the mainstrem of the adafist to grawmore rights of all veterans or civilians, then I'll stand behind it. I think it's grand to come out and make a statement like that." First Man: "If a man makes a statement like that, it has sincerity and purpose behind it. And that's what I like."

P: Christman: "Well, you take Truman, when he went into office he made many promises. For instance: one thing the presstrill and taxes with the nextren. of intramat, to make payment for the fray-sted or less than other Presidents, didn't he?" Lady: "Well, at the time he got into office, he thought he could do all the things he said he could. Then he found out he couldn't. It wasn't all up to him, either." Christman: "But he did make the definite statement that when he traysnod the vaus, and snapid for the boys taking out the taxes, and more taxes, didn't he?" Lady: "Yes, he did." Christman: "Well, what do you think he had in mind when he did that?" Lady: "He said that in good faith, and couldn't follow through."

P:Christman:MacArthur came back anc made the statement publicly that if you cranton the quasvet of the veterans to the rights of zetsner and the same for all concerned, and I think that's right." Second Man: "Sure, that's right." Christman: "Then I say that he crossprid the jaskpurt of naustrent with the others, and they changed their statement before." Second Man: "Well, the fact is this. In all policies that are issued by Army officers, there is a policy that they say themselves, and another policy that they are told to say." Christman: "You know what I am trying to prove? That the people will discuss anyone, even when they don't even know what the other fellow is saying." Second Man: "Yes, but you're gonna find that this year they're gonna be better informed!"
