The story begins aboard a greasy old freighter when one of the hands (Broderick Crawford) decides that the world has too many people and he has too little money. With the help of a misanthropic messmate, he actually makes a good start on this project but meets his match in a courageous captain (James Mason) and a ravishing Maori girl (Dorothy Dandridge). Not that it matters, but the title is misleading. Since the picture is not in color, the decks only run black and white.
