Lloyd Nolan, 83, versatile actor of stage, screen and television, whose memorable roles ranged from the genial neighborhood policeman in A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (1945) to the psychotic Captain Queeg in a TV production of The Caine Mutiny Court Martial for which he won an Emmy Award in 1956; of lung cancer; in Los Angeles.
