CONVICTED. Carmine Persico, 52, reputed boss of New York City's Colombo crime organization; on charges of racketeering, extortion and bribery; after an eight-month trial; in New York City. Persico faces up to 20 years on each of two racketeering counts. Earlier in the week, 15 alleged associates pleaded guilty to various charges at another trial in New York City, a double play that led prosecutors to claim a major blow against the Mafia.
