INDICTED. Richard Secord, 56, former Air Force major general who was Oliver North's chief intermediary in selling weapons to Iran and diverting the profits to the contras; on nine counts of lying to and obstructing congressional investigating committees; in Washington. Each charge upon conviction carries a maximum sentence of five years' imprisonment and $250,000 in fines. Secord was convicted in a Virginia court of drunk driving.
