NAME THAT TUNE The radio is playing, and you get a catchy song stuck in your head but never catch the title or artist. Enter *CD www.starcd.com) a website that lists what's playing on radio stations in 33 cities. By "listening" to the songs as they play, computers keep track of the past 24 hours' worth of music. With a click you'll find out the name of that darned song, then--*CD hopes--buy the album.

SAT-ISFACTION Apparently there's a niche market serving people who want satellite television in their cars. Satcom Electronics says that in early fall it will introduce the PASSPort MDBS antenna for the roof of your SUV, minivan or camper. But before you rush out to buy one, you should know that even after you've spent $1,250, the thing still won't pull in TV stations while the vehicle is moving. Satcom plans to release a fully mobile version next year. Parents beware: "Don't make me stop this car!" may not be a threat for long.

NIGHT LIGHT Here's a bit of practical magic: Huffy Sports' Twilight basketball ($25). A battery-powered bulb shines through the ball's translucent skin, so you can shoot hoops long after the sun goes down. It's easy to turn on and has a motion detector to shut it off automatically after five idle minutes. But what good is seeing the ball if you can't see the net? You might just have to spring for Huffy's Satellight lighted backboard and rim.
