What Made Craig Say "Later"?
By Rebecca Winters
We have five questions for CRAIG KILBORN, who announced last week that he's stepping down as host of CBS's Late, Late Show after five years: Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? "I just go with my gut, and I felt I'd done all I could do," says the smart-alecky schmoozer, who was in contract talks with the network. By quitting, Kilborn, whose frat-house humor first won over young male viewers on ESPN's SportsCenter, has relinquished any claim to the throne of his lead-in, David Letterman. Kilborn says he will turn to writing and producing, and "I may go to Italy and put on some pounds." Let's see: no show, love handles--we're pretty sure the babes are out of reach now, Craig.
