Abstract

The measurement of flow is essential to the production, distribution, consumption and disposal of all liquids and gases including fuels, chemicals, foods and wastes. Emphasis in this chapter is placed on the broad types of flow measuring equipment that are commercially available and the general selection criteria for their proper use. The various measurement methods and corresponding hardware are discussed in terms of their principles of operation, variations in available forms, advantages and limitations, and commonly used areas of application.
