Abstract
Technical service in the chemical industry is designed to provide timely and professional information and support to downstream customers regarding chemical products and their uses. Examples of the various tasks pertinent to contemporary technical service efforts are given; information on the structure of technical service organization, training of personnel, participation in technical societies, and trade associations are discussed. The part played by technical service, the product development function, and the uses of computer and other electronic technologies in technical service are included.
