Abstract

The chemistry of thiols is a diverse area. Many thiols are of economic importance, with applications such as rubber intermediates, cosmetics additives, herbicides, gas odorants, and lube additive intermediates. Thiols are characterized by their strong odor. The preparations and reactions of thiols, as well as their use as intermediates in the production of commercial products, are discussed.
