After struggling with vista home premium on my home dell desktop for about half year, finally I give up to xp professional sp2.
MS windows is just like US borders in terms of security and painstaking formalities. For me, vista home premium is absolutely not as smooth as xp professional. The latter has IIS, although I don’t use it and you can bear this for vista by using apache or wamp if you want it to serve as a web server, as well as no user account control, which is becoming notorious. How about ssh? No way to cooperate with vnc to facility the remote control, at least I had no idea how to make them through. And vista home premium doesn’t equip itself with remote desktop server, which is quite convenient to set it up in xp just by simply opening port 3389 on the server and on the router, which should be the most popular setup for home lan users.
For my computer, another funny thing with vista is I had trouble with sound recording even I can live chat by messenger! Tried to install linux fedora, it was just not able to recognize the mouse 🙂
More things would come up I think if I would like to continue to stay with vista. Enough is enough.
