Last weekend I received a notice from IRS saying that I owed about $6000 to them. When I first saw that, I just felt stunned, and then frustrated, and then … Finally I came to something and believed it was ridiculous. How could it be with my income less than $30000. My wife then called IRS and they also didn’t know what’s wrong with the tax return. Since the problem can’t be solved on phone call, I went to a nearby IRS location about 40 miles away. Finally they figured it out. As the lady official said there, IRS mistook my taxable income as my tax by accident.
Accident actually has already visited me. It was less than 2 year ago when I changed my family health plan from economic plan to saving plan my wife got pregenant after 2 months accidently. Then our brand-new baby, supposed to bring us lots of happiness, seemed somewhat affected by our latent worries waken occansionally by the hospital bills. At that time we just thought to make through that accident and leave it behind for ever.
Now the accident, man, came again like a crasher. Once it happened, I just felt like my life was out of control. I can’t hold my wheel. Life seemed made of accidents and full of holes. The beautiful shell of life that I ever dreamed like every young boy and girl turned worn and splitted into pieces. I even speculated that accidents were deliberately made happen to me just because I don’t believe in god. If it was, I would get angry definately and I would swear not to give up the battle with this kind of god to the end of my life.
But I still belive in physical laws rather than superstitious god. Statistically, there are only fortunate and unfortunate situations with respect to normal lives. As the old chinese saying already told us: fortunate and unfortunate are behide each other like the fickle peaks and valleys of the waves, there was actually no accident happening in the world. It’s not the accident itself but the our nature of human being that let the accident happen all the time. If our mind can really translate it to our heart, the lives on this planet should have already been pretty peaceful without the help of praying or something else. However, we are and still will be human being. Human being don’t think of his life ephemeral, fickle, and accidental. He complains the unfortunate as bad luck and appreciate the fortunate as good luck. Therefore, once an accident happens, life feels ridiculous.
